In the last post I shared John's creative custom work that was born from this home remodeling project. The other custom work that really helps define our vision is the metalwork bracketry that we installed on the front porch and also in part of the kitchen renovation we've done.
Courtesy of my father, we gave him a general idea of what we wanted, and he created from scratch heavy-duty, but simple and appealing brackets to support the glu-lam beams in the house. The man is a wizard, and one of the most under-appreciated, under-utilized people I know.
My dream is that one day he will be discovered for the wonder that he is, then can spend his days tinkering away on amazing creations, as one would their most beloved hobby, while getting paid obscene amounts of money for his craft.
